If
you want to dress up your home in preparation for the Pujas, drop in
at The Address. This lifestyle store has now launched a collection
of kilims and cotton Durries, which was recently unveiled by actress
Debashree Roy.
The term kilim
translates as a flat, woven rug, which originated in Turkey.
Initially used as door flaps, food covers and prayer rugs, a
person's status could be measured by his possession of these bright
and beautiful rugs. Over the years, the commercial value of the rugs
have increased and the modern weaves are almost replicas of the
original Turkish rugs in their usage of colors and intricacy of
patterns. It is these kilims, made of naturally dyed and handspun
wool, that are on offer at The Address.
Also on offer is a
range of durries - the traditional Indian cotton carpets. Durries
are mostly found in stripes and abstract geometric designs in such
colors as indigo, pale blue, pink and white. The Address has stocked
up on these and more unusual patterns like floral designs and Moghul
motifs, which would brighten up your interiors.
