As always THE ADDRESS brings to Kolkata, a collection to enhance your lifestyle and enrichen your space. The collection consists of Kilims and cotton Dhurries which are both affordable and stylish!

The term Kilim has now become the known term for a flatwoven rug. Bold distinctive patterns, brilliant colours, astonishingly diverse decoration, and affordability are some of the characteristics that explain the popularity of these marvelous flatwoven rugs from the near and far east known as Kilims.

KILIMS are mainly associated with TURKEY where they were used as door flaps, covers for food preparation, eating cloths and prayer rugs. Guests would be treated to a fine array of the best flat weaves as a display of their host's status and hospitality.

The weaving of new Kilims for commercial purposes is now firmly established, with the character of these modern Kilims being replicas, woven of naturally dyed and handspun wool, making them authentic replicas of the old Turkish flatweave in all its fineness and intricacy of patterns.

On the other hand, a DHURRIE is an INDIAN traditional flatwoven cotton carpet. Transcending social boundaries, the Dhurrie was used by royalty and commoners alike. Dhurries are mainly associated with stripes and geometrics in contrasting colours, usually indigos, paler blues, pinks and whites. AMBIKA has brought in intricate floral designs in traditional moghul patterns which could be described as woven poetry. With their nostalgia of timeless grace and awareness of contemporary lifestyles, these pieces of woven art are sure to compliment any urban interior or rural retreat.

In recent years the demand for Kilims and dhurries has reached unprecedented levels fueled by a new recognition of the special qualities of handmade ethnic crafts. With their endless wealth of patterns and unusual colour combinations, they certainly provide the versatility required in today's designer market, inspiring the best of one and all.
